Intensive Site Visits: 10 selected sites

Round 1: 19/6-1/8: completed, 10 sites visited; nest tree Scots Pine 5, Hemlock Spruce 2, Oak 2, Norway Spruce 1; birds recorded male 7, female 9: total adult 16.

Round 2: 15/8-29/8: completed,10 sites visited; occupied 10, failed 0; found fledged 5x2, 3x1+, 2x>0; birds recorded adult male 4, adult female 6, juvenile 13, total 23.

Breeding: Totals to 27/9, all sites

Display period: 7/5-17/6 32 sites (26 male, 19 female: 45 total)

Sitting/Rearing period: 18/6-12/8 23 sites (15 male, 14 female: 29 total)

Fledging period: 13/8-27/9 49 sites (18 male, 23 female, 81 juvenile)

Gangs of juveniles: 24/9-29/9 5 sites, 24 birds (6 at Bywell 24/9, 0 Wylam 25/9, 5 Dipton Wood 26/9, 4 Great Heaplaw 27/9, 5 Sinderhope 28/9, 4 Riddlehamhope 29/9)

North Wessex Downs (29/4-6/5): 1 site: female gliding around escarpment Savernake Forest N in territory 3/5 and 5/5.

London W (23/5-25/5, 2/6): female soaring high and moving N, Horsenden Hill 24/5.

Cornwall (25/5-1/6): coastal area North Cornwall none; Camel 2 sites, 2 pairs, 30/5 Dunmere area; Bodmin Moor 1 site, 1 female, 31/5 Smallacoombe; total 3 sites, 5 birds.

Devon (1/6): Sidmouth, 1 male gliding into wood at Bulverton Hill.

South Downs (7/8-11/8): Rowlands Castle SE, 7/8, female in flap-flap-glide display; Havant Thicket pair adult up low-down in territory 10/8.

Durham (8/9): Coatham Mundeville, female flapping over stubble field.

London W (17/9-19/9): none.

Furness (15/10-18/10): Grange-over-Sands, 16/10, 1 juvenile S, across Morecambe Bay.
