Maps for Honey-buzzard in UK from NR's observations

The maps below show observations by NR from 2006-11 for northern England and southern England/Wales, and from 2000-2011 for Scotland. That for the UK as a whole includes all of these observations. Obviously they are based on one person's observations over a time span of up to 12 years.

The rationale for publishing these records now is twofold:

  1. The species is clearly becoming commoner in the UK and secrecy needs to be reduced.

  2. For a discussion of the movement in 2008 an idea of the distribution of the UK population is essential.
