That for Honey Buzzard is the lowest ever at 2,126 compared to 3,724 in 2000 and 4,937 as a long-term average from 1986-2000.
Counts of all raptors were above average at 47,517 (37,042 from 1986-2000) but below the numbers recorded in 2000 (53,312).
Of course not much should be read into one season but the long-term downward trend for Honey Buzzard at Falsterbo, coupled with low productivity recorded in the breeding population (see for instance Dalsland Project ), must be a cause for concern over the viability of Sweden's population.
