The recovery, only the third BTO-ringed bird to be reported abroad, involved one 'stuck in wire fencing', but released safely, at Breville-sur-Mer in Manche, France, on 2nd August 2003 at 48 deg 52 min N, 1 deg 33 min W. The bird had been ringed as a pullus in the Welsh study area on 26th July 1998. The distance from its natal area was 423 km SSE. This bird also set a longevity record of 5 years and 7 days, for the small sample of three recoveries. The recovery date is early for a departing adult from Britain.
