When walking through Staufen later did indeed have a dark-phase juvenile Honey-buzzard up above a meadow at 14:11, doing some hanging, a little diving and of course floating; birds this young, maybe this was its maiden flight, are completely unlike adults with the heavy body and still growing flight feathers, giving a cumbersome appearance; this one is missing P8, a common feather to be last to grow of the primaries but has P5, P6, P9, P10 almost fully grown; P1 also appears to be not grown yet; the growth rate on both wings is the same; there are 4-5 tail bars; the outer tail feathers are still growing; the wing-barring is sparse and bold (8402).
